Wolfville, NS
September 30, 1946 - December 12, 2024
It is with deep sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Elaine Helen Bonnyman, who passed away on Thursday, December 12, 2024, in Greenwich, at the age of 78.
Elaine was born on September 30, 1946 in Wolfville. Elaine was a devoted wife to her husband, Jim and a loving, caring mother to her two sons, Darren and Matthew and daughter Lori Ann. Elaine worked for the family business before retiring.
Active in her community, she volunteered her time, expertise and baked goods to many fundraisers and events. Her great strength, courage, and determination were the foundation of her character. She was known for her compassion and generosity, always putting the needs of her family and friends before her own. She is also remembered for her wonderful sense of humor and quick wit, which could always bring a smile and a laugh to those around her.
Elaine had a gift for showing love through food. She was an exceptional cook and baker, always hosting dinners and preparing the annual Christmas feast for her loved ones. It’s still unknown how one amazing lady could pull an entire 5 course meal together and it still be hot. For anyone who had the opportunity to experience her cooking, you would truly understand.
She is survived by her husband, Jim, Wolfville, with whom she shared 57 years of marriage; sons, Darren, and Matthew (Denise); daughter, Lori Ann (Patrick) Tucker; grandchildren, Nicole, Jillian, Maddox, Liam and Rebecca; sister, Debbie; brothers, Billy, Fred and Leslie; nieces, nephews, close friends and extended family who will cherish her memory.
Elaine was predeceased by her parents, Simon and Greta (Hake) Sabean; and sisters, Christine McKay and Carolyn (George) Haines.
In keeping with Elaine’s wishes, cremation has taken place and there will be no visitation or formal funeral service. A celebration of her life will be held at a later date.
Donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
