Donald Edwin "Donnie" Boomer – 90, Truro, formerly of Brookfield, passed away peacefully on Friday morning, February 14, 2025, at Sutherland Harris Memorial Hospital, Pictou.
Born in Brookfield, he was the son of the late Edwin and Violet (Tucker) Boomer.
In earlier years, Donnie worked at Hallidays and then went to work at Crossley Carpet Factory until his retirement. Many will remember seeing him walking around town. He was a cherished brother and will be missed by his sisters.
Donnie is survived by his sisters, Marjorie (Gerald) Matthews, Lower Truro; Lillian Corkum, Brookfield; Shirley Wallace, Bible Hill; many nieces and nephews. Along with his parents, he was predeceased by his wife, Margaret (Terry); sisters, Edna (Charlie) McNutt, Mary (Donnie) MacCallum, Margaret in infancy.
Donnie’s family would like to express their heartfelt thanks to the entire staff at Sutherland Harris Memorial Hospital for the exceptional care provided over the past two years.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Mattatall – Varner Funeral Home, 55 Young Street, Truro, where the funeral service will be held 2 p.m., Wednesday, February 19, 2025, Reverend Larry Harrison officiating. Reception will follow. Spring interment in Brookfield Westside Cemetery, Carter Road, Brookfield.
