Bowie, Elmer Joseph, age 74, Merland, Antigonish County passed away at St. Martha’s Regional Hospital on June 17, 2024.
Born in Antigonish, he was the son of the late Henry and Gertie (McKeough) Bowie.
Elmer worked as a welder in his early years, retiring early due to illness.
He is survived by dear friend, Georgia; children, Natasha Ehler, Havre Boucher and Brendan Bowie, Halifax; brother, Jim (Margie) Bowie, Spryfield; sister, Louise Boyle, Afton; sister-in-law, Elaine Bowie, Afton and four grandchildren.
Predeceased by sisters; Shirley (George); Jeanie (Eugene), brothers; Donnie (Valerie), Mike, and brother-in-law, Michael "Buddy" Boyle.
Visitation will be in C.L. Curry Funeral Home, 135 College Street, Antigonish on Friday from 3 to 6 pm. Funeral Mass will be in St. Peter’s Church, Tracadie on Saturday at 11:00 am with Reverend John Barry presiding. Burial in the parish cemetery.
Donations may be made to Tracadie Parish towards the purchase of a new lawnmower tractor.
