Cameron, Donald Joseph, P. Eng., age 86, of Antigonish passed away on May 16, 2024, in St. Martha's Regional Hospital, Antigonish.
Born in Antigonish, he was a son of the late Angus and Mary (Chisholm) Cameron.
Don practiced Electrical Engineering in several provinces during his career and received a Certificate of Fellowship from Engineers Canada in 2008 for his exceptional contributions to the profession in Canada.
He gave much of his spare time to sport teams and was on the Board of Antigonish Bulldogs and was hockey coach for several levels of minor hockey and coached the Antigonish Midget "B" Bulldogs to their championship in 1993/94. He also helped organize the Antigonish "Old Dogs" team and played on the "Slow Dogs" team.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his son, Mark; and daughter, Carrie Ann.
He leaves behind his wife, Mary Alice (Pelerine) Cameron; sisters, Joan (Anthony Quick), Hamilton, Ontario; and Marie (Tom Meagher), Mulgrave, NS; and his nieces and nephews.
We were so thankful for his care in PCU and ICU as well as doctors and staff at Saint Martha's Regional Hospital.
Visitation will be held in C.L. Curry Funeral Home, 135 College Street, Antigonish, NS from 3-6pm on Tuesday, May 21st. Funeral service will be held in the funeral home on Wednesday May 22nd at 10am with Reverend Danny MacLennan officiating.
Memorial donations may be made to the St. Martha’s Regional Hospital Foundation.
