Kantilal Lavjibhai Chaudhari passed away peacefully in the Palliative Care Unit at St. Martha’s Regional Hospital in Antigonish on Saturday April 6, 2024, at the age of 63.
Kanti is survived by his wife, Priti Chaundari; his son, Kushal Chaudhari; his daughter-in-law, Harshida Chaudhari; and two young grandchildren, Ananya and Dev Chaudhari.
Born in Visnagar, a city in the state of Gujarat India, Kanti came from humble beginnings and lived a great life of service to his community and family. Kanti was the youngest of four siblings. While in India, he was the general manager of Cadila Healthcare, which is the 3rd largest pharmaceutical company in India.
In 1999, he moved to Florida and later Ontario, Canada, aiming to establish a good life for his family. He was a businessman at heart, ready to take risks for the betterment of his family. In August 2019, he found this beautiful town named Antigonish, chose to make it home, and became one of the owners of Maritime Inn in Antigonish.
Since moving, Kanti has been an avid contributor to businesses in the local area. Kanti was one of the main founders of the Antigonish Tourism Association. After just two years of his involvement in this organization, he was awarded the Queen Elizabeth II Jubilee award by the Honourable Premier of Nova Scotia, Tim Houston, for his contributions to business and community via the Tourism Association. The Honourable Minister of Health, Michelle Thompson, personally came to present this award. Just last week, Kanti was also awarded the Buoys Ambassador Award for his excellent contributions to tourism by the Tourism Industry of Nova Scotia (TIANS).
Most of all, Kanti was an inspiration for his courage and strength he displayed in his battle against cancer. Because of his love for his family and community, he fought through several regimens of chemotherapy. Despite all the pain and symptoms of this horrible disease, he always had a smiling face and reminded all to cherish the positive moments in life.
During his battle against cancer, he became a symbol of strength and inspiration to all those around him. Kanti reminded us all to find courage and happiness in some of our darkest moments. He will forever be remembered in our hearts as a symbol of life and happiness. May his soul rest in peace.
The family would like to thank the staff of St. Martha’s Regional Hospital and Nova Scotia Health for their great care and support.
Visitation, prayers, and words of remembrance will be held Tuesday in C.L. Curry Funeral Home, 135 College Street, Antigonish, Nova Scotia, from 10:00am to 12 noon, which we be streamed live on the funeral home's website.
