COLLET-MACDONALD, Margaret Ann (Peggy)

Soldiers Cove, NS

March 15, 1930 - January 22, 2024

It is with heavy hearts that we the family announce the passing of Margaret Ann "Peggy" (MacDonald) Collet, who passed away peacefully at her home in Soldier's Cove with her loving family at her side on January 22, 2024.

Born at home in Soldier's Cove on March 15, 1930 to the late Angus Allen and Elizabeth 'Lizzie" (Mac Neil), she was the last surviving member of her immediate family. Mom, Nan, Nanny, Peggy, Nanny Peggy were the names she answered to, anything but Margaret. She was the "go to" person and devoted her life to her family.

Peggy couriered the mail from St. Peters to Irish Cove with the Canada Post for over 25 years. You instantly felt at home and part of the family, greeted with a smiling face, quick-witted humor, a cup of tea and something to eat. There was no option to not have something to eat before you left. The tea was always on the stove and the door open to anyone who needed a place to stay but one visitor who always had a special place in her heart was Kelly. She passed her love of cars down through the generations which included driving in the Womens 'Powder Puff Stock Car Races in Sydney, tinkering with many of the engines in the family cars, teaching her children and grandkids to drive and laying rubber on the occasion.

Peggy would never have lived to 93 years of age if it weren't for the exceptional, loving care she received from her devoted family who kept her in her home right until her final days where then she was called to her forever home.

She was predeceased by her loving husband Edmond Collet. She was also predeceased by her loving sons Leo (late Colleen), Michael (M.A) Collet.

Left to mourn this incredible loss are her 3 sons Angus, Francis and Willie Joe (Joy) all of Soldiers Cove and her 3 daughters Mary Lizzie (late Walter) O'Toole of Barra Head, Julianna (Wayne) Savoy, Madonna of Soldiers Cove and daughter in law Terri of Sydney. She is also survived by sisters in law Mary Stone of Sydney and Annie Breau of St, Peters; Brothers in law Joey (Debbie) Collet of Sydney and George Collet of Ontario.

Nanny will be fondly missed and forever remembered by her grandchildren who she loved and cared for as if they were hers, Joshua (Cassandra), Matthew (Alicia), Devan (Jiyeon), Brett (Sam), Tasha (Jeric), Christopher (Ashley), Jonathan (Beth), Mark (Eliza), Jordan, Maria, Justin (Michaela) and special grandson Kempie, Nanny has a special place in her heart for her beloved great grandchildren Isla, Oliver, Ben, Ella, Kallie, Piper, River, Ivan, Aurora, Atticus, Reid, Leo Francis, Xander, Aiden, Mia and Arielle; Many nieces nephews and her four God children.

She was also predeceased by her sisters Agnes (late Lawerence) Sutherland, Mary Jessie (late Bill) Şavoie, and her brother Mickey (late Vi) Mac Donald, and son in law Walter O'Toole, daughter in law Colleen Mac Donald, special niece, and godchild Lil Sutherland.

Special thanks to family friend Alicia Mac Leod, and a very special thank you to our brother Edmond Francis Collet who enabled Mom to stay in her home where she was the happiest.
