Eastern Passage, NS
June 15, 1953 – September 1, 2024
It is with heavy hearts we announce the unexpected passing of Hal Doucette peacefully at his home on Sunday, September 1, 2024.
He is survived by his son David (Michelle) Doucette and daughter Amanda (Paul) MacIntyre as well as his stepchildren Josh (Sarah) Michaud and Jenna Michaud. His brothers Wallace (Marlaine) Doucette and Rick Doucette. His sisters Linda DeWolfe, Madeline, and Bernice. Sister-in laws Barb Doucette and Gail DeWolfe.
His grandchildren Breanna Doucette, Zachary Doucette, Evan Gray, Emily Michaud, Jacob Michaud and several nieces and nephews. Also his first wife and friend for life Janice Hemeon. He is predeceased by his wife Arlene (McMullen) Doucette, father and mother Daniel and Beatrice (McKay) DeWolfe, brothers Carmen DeWolfe and Billy Doucette.
As a young man he worked for Fairey Aviation before moving into a position in housekeeping at the Nova Scotia Hospital where he would spend the next 30+ years keeping people on their toes and making many longtime friends. Hal was a social bug and since he knew so many people you could always count on him for the latest news and updates and information from the obits. He was a very active person through his life and enjoyed cards, crib, horseshoes, darts, and of course watching his Toronto Blue Jays.
The Eastern Passage Legion was his home away from home and he could often be found there regaling tales and having drinks with his friends who many were like his second family. He loved his family deeply and was a loyal friend and his presence will be sorely missed by all who knew him.
A memorial service will be held 12 pm (noon ) Saturday, September 7, 2024 at the Royal Canadian Legion, Eastern Passage.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Royal Canadian Legion in Eastern Passage.
