Durkee, Larry Wayne

Brazil Lake, NS

November 20th, 1954 - January 19th, 2024


Durkee, Larry Wayne- age 69 of Brazil lake, Yarmouth Co., NS passed away suddenly at home on Friday, January 19,2024. Larry was born on November 20,1954 and grew up in Wellington, NS. He was a son to the late Lyman and Edna (Thompson) Durkee.


He was a jack of all trades, some of which include, carpentry, mining, and paving. He retired after 23 years of service as a heavy equipment mechanic at Standard General in Calgary. He lived a very adventurous lifestyle, making many friends along the way. Enjoyed hunting, camping, spending time in the woods, traveling, Nasar races, music and never missing an episode of Jeopardy. But what he cherished most of all was sharing his time and wisdom with his family.


He is survived by his wife, Cathy; daughters, Karen, Tanya, Crystal, Shannon, and son in law ,Roydel; his 12 grandchildren, Caitlyn (Chuck), Zachary, Hunter, Dryden, Eaden, Riley, Lily, Easton, Olivia, Jake, Cooper, and Royson; 4 great grandchildren, Tony, Hallie, Delilah, and Luna; brothers, Robert, Howard, Alan; sister, Laurie (Alan), as well as many nieces and nephews.


Cremation has taken place under the care and direction of Sweeny’s Funeral Home and Crematorium, Yarmouth. A celebration of life will be Thursday, January 25,2024 starting at 7 p.m. from the Deerfield Fire Hall.
