Fraser, James (Jim)

New Glasgow, NS

September 11, 1951 - September 14, 2024

James "Jim" Earle Fraser, September 11, 1951 – September 14, 2024, New Glasgow, NS.

It is with great sorrow that we share the loss of our dear father, grandfather, brother and friend. Jim passed away on Saturday, September 14, 2024 after a short but difficult battle with cancer.

Jim was predeceased by his parents, J. Earle Fraser (1995) and Viola "Vi" Fraser (2021) of New Glasgow; sister, Gail Blair (2011) and brother, Fred "Charlie" Fraser (2016).

Jim is survived by his sons: Tyler Fraser (Liane) of Calgary; JB Fraser; and daughter, Amanda Fraser of Trenton; and precious grandchildren: Haylie, Ethan and Logan Fraser of Calgary.

He will be greatly missed by his sisters: Sandra Ryan of Yarmouth; Dorothy Mitchell (Jim Ferris) of Kitchener; and Margaret MacDonald (Brian) of Westville; as well as his sister-in-law, Fran Fraser of Salt Springs.

"Jimmie" leaves behind four nieces: Amy Fraser, Sheri Douglas, Sonia Ryan and Susan Mitchell/Hicks as well as eight nephews: Charlie (CB) Fraser, Mark and Paul Mitchell, John Ryan, John and Jason Douglas, Ross MacDonald and Paul Blair and many wonderful cousins.

The family would like to acknowledge Matthew McKenzie for his friendship and support throughout the years as well as Joan Cameron for her support during his battle with cancer.

Jim’s passions were wood working and carpentry and he was well known for his attention to detail. He was also known for his quick wit, one liners and sarcastic sense of humour. He enjoyed annual trips out to Calgary, AB to visit his son Tyler and his family. Jim and his son spent quality time together by swinging a hammer, pouring concrete or cracking jokes to the subtrades on site. If anyone knew Jim, they would tell you firsthand how stubborn he could be and when he made a decision, he stood by it. That stubbornness enabled him to enjoy the last 8 years of his life in sobriety. Jim was a man of great qualities and integrity.

He will be greatly missed by anyone that had the pleasure of being a part of his life.

As per Jim’s wishes, no service will be held.
