Roger Kenneth Gamble – 59, Truro. It is with profound sadness that we announce the unexpected passing of our beloved brother, Roger Kenneth Gamble, who suddenly passed away at his home on November 2, 2024 due to natural causes.
Born in Truro, Roger was the son of the late Ralph Gamble and Lila (Hendry) Gratto. He entered this world alongside his twin brother, Ronnie, who tragically passed away at the early age of 16. Roger carried Ronnie’s spirit in his heart throughout his life.
Growing up in a large family, Roger shared his childhood with his siblings, Vernon Gratto (Virginia), Doug Gratto (Doreen), Ralph Gamble (Christine), Patsy Reynolds, Patricia Bennett (Michael), Judy Gamble-Pulley (Weston), Debbie Lindsay (John). He was a devoted uncle to many nieces and nephews, each holding a special place in his heart.
Roger had friendships across the globe and shared a special bond with his work "mates" and cousins, particularly Ian Taylor and Carolann Gamble O'Leary. Not only were they his cousins, but best friends who supported each other through their ups and downs in life.
Roger spent his early years in Economy before moving to Halifax to pursue his education in Mechanical Drafting and Design. After graduating, he launched his career in Toronto before relocating to Vancouver, where he met the mother of his children, Leith Sargant. The couple moved to Leith's homeland of Australia, where they were married and began a new chapter. In 1998, they welcomed his greatest legacy, his triplets Liam, Griffin, and Chet. Roger took immense pride in watching his boys grow into remarkable young men.
After raising his boys, Roger returned to the East Coast, where he found peace spending time "up" the river with his family and close friends. Roger embraced life wholeheartedly, sharing his infectious laughter and gift for storytelling with everyone around him. He found joy in reading, bass fishing, gardening, playing trivia, and attending sporting events with his sons. His passion for learning, particularly in history and politics, and his interest in genealogy, added richness to his life, uncovering ancestral ties which led to the joy of meeting newfound family.
Along with his parents, Roger was predeceased by his brother, Terry Gamble; twin brother, Ronnie Gamble; sister, Brenda Griffiths; maternal grandparents, Samuel and Margaret Hendry; nephew, Chad Gratto; paternal grandmother, Ethel Elliot "Granny" who held a very special place in his heart.
Funeral service will be held 3 p.m., Sunday, November 10, 2024, in Economy United Church, 3360 Highway 2, Economy. Interment in Economy Cemetery. Reception will follow in Economy Recreation Centre. In honour of Roger's deep interest in family history and his love for exploring cemeteries, donations may be made in his memory to the Economy Cemetery. Roger will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
In the words of Elliot Page,
"We deserve to experience love fully, equally, without shame and without compromise."
