Millville, NS
April 11, 2024
Our much beloved Elizabeth Josephine Mae Hebb, 85, of Millville, peacefully passed away on Thursday, April 11, 2024 in the Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville.
Our Betty (according to her) was the first baby born at the Blanchard Fraser Memorial Hospital in Kentville. She was the daughter of the late Reginald and Helen (Roscoe) Taylor.
Betty will be very much missed by her sons, Brian, Millville; Anthony "Tony" (Nina), Wilmot; Timothy "Tim" (Angie), Weston; grandchildren, Joshua (Jillian), Chelsea (Brian), Theresa (DJ), Krissy (Steve) Justin, Angus, Josie Mae, Mitchell, Arielle, Tiffany, Jonathan (and Zachariah); great-grandchildren, Jackson, Maeve, Bennie, Shaylynn, Abbygail, Aden, Brinley, Lincoln, Walker, Sullivan, and Khloee. She will also be missed by her brother, James "Jim" (Peggy) Taylor, Sheffield Mills; nephew, Britt (Michelle) Taylor and Jana (Kevin); great-nieces and nephews; Hannah, Jillian, Annika, Astrid, Anders.
Betty, Betsy, as her brother Jim affectionately called her, was a pillar in her community. In addition to her being a foster parent, Betty started her volunteerism in the mid 1980’s by becoming a member of the Aylesford and District Lioness Club. For 34 years she was the face of the Children's Wish Foundation and during that time she was involved in granting 90 wishes, organizing 600 events and raising well over $500,000 to grant wishes to children.
Betty never stopped thinking of others and right up until her last moments, our dear Betty, was still organizing a fundraiser for the local food bank. She affectionately involved her sons, and daughters-in-law and gave us all orders to ensure everything goes smoothly and told us to make sure we say "thank you" to all who donated generously of their time, gifts and funds. In Betty’s own words she states: "I do what I do because I love it. I’ll keep doing all I can until I can’t do it anymore." Betty loved her family and to say she will be missed is truly an understatement.
We will miss her constant presence at her favorite table at the family diner. She has touched so many lives. I am sure many, many of you have a story about how Betty touched your own lives and we, her family, look forward to hearing them at her celebration of life.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by many aunts and uncles.
Cremation has taken place and there will be no visitation, by request.
The celebration of life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, April 28, 2024 in the White Family Funeral Home, Kentville.
True to Betty’s spirit of giving, in lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to a local food bank of your choice or the VON Annapolis Valley.
Celebration of life arrangements have been entrusted to the White Family Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Kentville.
