It is with sad hearts that we announce the passing of our loved one, Gloria Diane "Tubby" (Draper) Hick, 82, of Berwick, on Friday, February 28, 2025 in Valley Hospice, Kentville.
Born in Windsor, NS on January 27, 1943, she was a daughter of the late George and Rosamond (Dimock) Draper.
After graduating from Windsor Regional High School she worked at the bank. She met the love of her life Carlyle "Carl" Hick, and they shared a life together for 59 years. Carl, a member of the military, was posted to CFB Gagetown in New Brunswick, where they started a family. During their 19 years there they formed many lifelong friendships. Upon Carl’s retirement from his military career they moved to New Minas, Nova Scotia. During this time Gloria worked for Carl when he became an Owner/Operator with Midland Transportation. Gloria was an active member of the New Minas United Church, and after amalgamation, Orchard Valley. After Carl’s death Gloria moved to assisted living at Orchard View Apartments in Berwick where she formed new friendships and initiated the Daily Tea at 4 outside her apartment.
Gloria is survived by her only son, Kevin (Debbie Gaetan); daughter, Cheryl (Tim Gates); grandchildren, Kyle Gates (Shannie), Hilary Lundy (Shane), Richard Gaetan (Chelsey); great granddaughters, Emmy and Ayla; sister Gina (Ken); brothers, Blaine (Mary), Bryan (Linda), Kenny (Linda), Gary (Kim). She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.Besides her parents, she is predeceased by her husband Carl; daughter, Crystal; brother, Ernie; sisters, Dorothy, Brenda and Judy.
A private family interment will take place in Starr’s Point Cemetery, Port Williams at a later date.
We would like to thank the staff at Valley Hospice in Kentville for their special care and compassion. Gloria would also like to thank Dr. James Ozon (nephew) for his advice and support.
