HORNE, John Rudland

Dartmouth, NS

August 25, 1933 - July 10, 2024

Born to George and Dorothy (Rudland) Horne in Saint John, NB on August 25, 1933, he was the second child of 8.  He passed away Wednesday July 10, 2024, leaving behind the love of his life, Winnie (Connors) and his family, Darlene and Rob (Laura and Mike; Amy; and Kate and Chris); Steve; and Ron and Kelly.  Predeceased by his parents and brothers Robert, Donald, Alex and Pat and granddaughter Rebecca.  Survived by siblings Tom, Carl and Joy and many nieces and nephews.

He loved spending time with his family, cooking, bread making, going for drives and passing along his knowledge and love of nature and fishing.  There wasn’t a craft he wouldn’t try and ultimately excel at (a trait that skipped his daughter but did get passed to Ron and his granddaughters) like gardening, woodworking, painting, carving and stained glass.

Dad was a gentle man who believed everyone deserved to be treated with respect.  He worked hard all his life to provide for his family.  He held many odd jobs throughout the years but was most proud of his last employer, Imperial Oil.

The family appreciates the sympathy and love that has been shared.  A private family celebration of life will take place at a later date.

“May the winds of love blow softly and whisper so that you can hear that I still love you and miss you and wish that you were here.  I know that you walk beside me and when my life is through, I pray that God will take my hand and lead me straight to you. (author unknown)”

Forever loved and never forgotten - Miss you Dad!!
