Gary Gordon Johnston – 81, Bible Hill, passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 17, 2024, with the love of his life, Sheila by his side. His daughters, Lynnette and Tamara, son, Rob and Trevor were faithfully by his side during his passing, while his son, Kelly was in hospital and son, Randy and his wife, Shannon were away in Florida, but were in contact with him before his passing.
Gary is survived by his wife, the love of his life, Sheila, and they have been together 51 years and married for 50 years. Born in Truro, he was a son of the late Ina and Gordon Johnston. Loving father to Kelly, North River; Randy (Shannon), Prince Edward Island; Robert (Trevor), Valley; Lynnette, Valley; Tamara (Mike), Valley; cherished Grampy to Matthew (Melissa), Kelsey (Derrick), Olivia, Nevaeh, Tyler, Jessica, Lucas, Octavia; uncle to many nieces and nephews.
Gary is also survived by his sister, Barbara Joan McNutt-Alvarez (Bible Hill) who moved to California and his three nephews, sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Cindy and Fred Craig, Truro.
Gary was predeceased by his brothers, Jimmy, Wayne in infancy; sisters-in-law, Ms. Gracie, Sherian, Melody; brother-in-law, Al "Big Al" Alvarez; nephew, Ross. Gary’s joy in life was his family and he will be missed deeply by his wife, Sheila, children and grandchildren.
Honouring Gary’s request, there will be no visitation, funeral or graveside funeral. Arrangements have been entrusted to Mattatall – Varner Funeral Home, 55 Young Street, Truro.
