Keeping, Gordon James – 94, of Halifax, passed away September 24, 2024 at Parkstone Enhanced Care.
Born in Halifax to Martin and Agnes (Walters) Keeping on May 14, 1930. He married his long time sweetheart Jeanne Pulsifer-Keeping on January 13, 1984 (Friday the 13th).
Gordie retired from a 43 year career as a longshoreman in August of 1995. As a young man he served as a merchant marine and later worked as a crane operator at both Halifax container piers. He enjoyed hunting and fishing. He had plenty of wild stories to tell which were very entertaining to his five grandsons.
He is predeceased by his wife Jeanne Pulsifer-Keeping and his 11 siblings.
He is survived by his step children Anne Vincent (Mark Boone) and Pierre Debaie (Anita) and grandchildren Joel, Sam, Luke (Hersey), Ryan (Danielle) and Jordan (Vivian) DeBaie, great grandchildren; Tessa Cornect-Hersey, Kristoffer Hersey, Aurora Hersey, Alexander Debaie and Vincent Debaie: along with many nieces and nephews on the Keeping side.
Funeral arrangements are in the care of Atlantic Funeral Home, 6552 Bayers Rd. Visitation will be Friday September 27th 2024 from 6pm-8pm with the funeral being held at 11am Saturday September 28th 2024. Burial will be at St Margaret’s Bay Baptist Cemetery immediately following the reception.
