Daniel Archibald MacMullin, 85 1939-2024 Port Caledonia, N.S. It is with heavy hearts that we announce the sudden passing of my dad, “Archie” on Monday, June 24, 2024, at home.

Beloved son, husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, cousin, and friend. Archie was born in Glace Bay to the late Winnie (MacQueen) and Danny MacMullin, Donkin, N.S. Dad was not only my father but my best friend-my rock! Family was everything to him. He was kind, loving, thoughtful, easy going and a true gentleman who always put everyone before himself. If you needed anything Dad was there. Dad was an outstanding grandfather to Riley, and they had a special bond like no other! He loved and adored my Mom more than words can say.

In his early years he followed his brothers to Ontario working in Woodstock and came home to go Lobster Fishing with his uncle Dougie MacQueen in Glace Bay. He was later employed with Devco for over 35 years where he was a hardworking proud Cape Breton Coal Miner at #26, Donkin and Phalen Collieries.

Dad loved hockey, coaching, playing or watching his Toronto Maple Leafs. He bowled for many years in the Devco Bowling League where he made lifelong friends. Dad was an avid walker, he enjoyed woodworking, and making many crafts. He loved a good game of Canasta with Mom, family, and friends. He enjoyed playing horseshoes, feeding the birds, gardening, lawn care and took great pride in making his yard look good for Canada Day. Dad had an amazing sense of humour making us smile and laugh daily, Dad loved his daily drives with Mom and Riley.

He is survived by his only daughter and best friend Stephanie (Gerry)Brufatto, special grandson and best buddy Riley who he adored and thought the world of and gave him so much joy. Brothers Melvin (Mary) MacQueen, Brian (Betty) MacMullin, Jimmy MacMullin; sisters Thelma (Emerson) Murray, Mary (Paul) Holland, Sharon (Bill) Hines; sisters-in-law Lois MacQueen, Margie Godin, and Barb MacDonald; step grandchildren: Jason (Nicole), Dwayne (Meghan), Ryan (Lisa) and several step great-grandchildren; special cousin Dougie MacQueen as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins. Dad is also survived by his special caregivers Lily, Beth, Diane, and Kim who he adored; dear neighbors and friends Harriett and Kevin Moss and their children Kyle, Breagh (Kyle) and Grady who he thought of as family and held a special place in his heart.

Along with his parents, dad was predeceased by the love of his life for 62 years, his wife Nina; brothers Clarence and Ed MacQueen, sisters in law Marilyn MacMullin, and Jane MacQueen; brothers in law Kenny MacDonald, and Dennis Godin; nephews Charles MacDonald, and Danny Hines; cousins Archie and Gladie MacQueen, and father and mother-in-law Richard and Katherine MacDonald.

Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held Wednesday, July 3, 2024, from 12-2 p.m. with a Memorial Service to follow at 2 p.m., with Al Moore presiding, all taking place in T.J. Tracey Cremation and Burial Specialists, 370 Reserve St., Glace Bay. 902-849-4199. A private burial will be held at a later date in St. Luke’s Cemetery.

Memorial donations may be made to St. Luke’s Anglican Church Cemetery, SPCA, The United Way or a charity of one’s choice.

As Dad would often say “I’m gone to Boothill.”

Mom and Dad:

Your Life was a blessing.

Your memory a treasure.

Love you forever.
