It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Robert Ernest Martin, on September 27, 2024 at the age of 71. He passed in the palliative care unit at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, surrounded by the people who loved him dearly.
Robert was born January 22, 1953 to Ernest and Mary Effie (Burns) Martin of Dutchbrook. Robert was a kind hearted soul. He was always there to help anyone who needed it. He made a big impact on his step children and grand children’s lives by stepping up as a father figure and caring for them all. He truly enjoyed spending time with his family. He will be greatly missed by everyone who knew him.
He is survived by his companion of 38 years Valerie Sampson, his step children Cindy and Ian Sampson, his precious grandchildren Matthew (Kayla) and Jessica (Thomas) whom he loved dearly. Along with his fur baby Molly. He is also survived by his sisters Marie (Charlie) and Deborah (Kenny), sister-in-law Thelma Martin, brother-in-law Roy Ferguson, uncle Lloyd Martin, his life long friend Donald Mugridge and several nieces and nephews.
Robert was predeceased by his parents, sister Brenda, as well as best friend and brother Donald Martin.
In accordance with Robert’s wishes, cremation has taken place and there will be no visitation or service. His loved ones will be honoring his wishes and laying him to rest with his family.
The family wishes to extend a special thank you to the staff at the palliative care unit at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital.
