MCCALLUM, Pearl Emma

Truro, NS

May 5, 2024

Pearl Emma McCallum – 94, Truro. With heavy hearts, we announce the sudden and peaceful passing of our mother and grandmother, Pearl McCallum, at The Mira Long-Term Care Centre, Truro, on Sunday, May 5, 2024.

Born in Valley, Colchester County, she was the daughter of the late Mae and Theodore Cooley.

Pearl is survived by her son, Martin (Jennifer); daughters, Angela (Conrad), Lynn (Doug) and Sharon; grandchildren, Sonya, Sarah, Daniel, Thomas, Oliver, Jenna, Evan, Addison; great grandchildren, Hunter and Remi; loving sister, Marion Cooley; several nieces and nephews.

Along with her parents,

Pearl was predeceased by her husband, Elroy; brothers, Don and Elliot; sisters, Frances, Florence, and Shirley Joan.

Pearl was a hard worker since a young age. Taking care of people came naturally to her. She had many roles as care giver, retail worker, and had fond memories of working at the fruit stand she and Elroy had in early years on Pictou Road. She cherished her family and all could count on a good meal, lots of laughs and a listening ear with Pearl. She touched many hearts with her kindness, generosity, sense of humour and positivity.

We send heartfelt gratitude to the wonderful, caring staff at The Mira who helped Pearl's last couple of years be filled with comfort, happiness and love.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Mattatall – Varner Funeral Home, 55 Young Street, Truro. At Pearl's request, no service or visitation will be held. A private family graveside service will take place at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, please donate to a charity of your choice or simply cherish those around you with kindness and compassion as our dear mother always did.
