MCDOW, Thayne Roger

Dartmouth, NS

August 8, 1942 - May 13, 2024

It is with heavy heart that we announce the passing of our beloved father, Thayne Roger McDow, born, August 8, 1942.

Thayne had many jobs in his life, but none compared to the role of husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather.  In his early years he was in the Black Watch stationed in New Brunswick, after leaving the military and trying to find his niche he finally settled at Maritime Paper where he stayed and made many friends until he retired.  Once retired he became a member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Somme Branch #31.  He also joined the Buffalo Club in 2006.  Thayne enjoyed playing darts, bowling and dancing.  He loved to fish especially when he was at Sunken Lake with his family, so many good times were spent there.  In his later years he settled into a quiet life being the best grandfather to his many grandchildren.

Thayne was predeceased by the love of his life Paula McDow; his brothers Bill McDow (Donna), Keith McDow (Pearl); sisters Betty Ann (late Billy Giles), Marilyn (late Reginal Latter); his parents Gordon and Edna McDow.

He is survived by his daughters Bonnie McDow (Dougald Veinot), Corrina McDow Young, (Bob Glovin); son Thayne McDow (Jodi Blakeney); grandchildren, Alisha Youden, Tyler Youden, Sydney MacDonald, Baily MacDonald, Jarred MacDonald, Christopher Babinm, Xander McDow; Reina Young and Evan Young,  great grandchildren Sharaden, Brooke, Madison, Ethan, Emma, Ethan, Keeley, Paisley, Harley, Jack, Winter, Riley and Ellie.

He will be missed dearly by his 2 cats Ringo & Gary.

Special thank you to our sister and brother in law Corrina & Bob for putting everything on hold to give Dad the best care possible and keeping him home.  Special thank you to Reina for helping out when needed.  We would not have been able to keep him home without this amazing family.

There will be no funeral at this time.  A celebration of life will be at a later date.
