It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our dearest Brother, Roger Joseph Morris on August 22,2024 at the age of 70 at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital.
Roger was born and raised in Eskasoni, NS and was the son of the late Leo Morris and Gudia (Toney) Gallagher.
Roger had a contagious laugh and a great sense of humor. Those who knew him would say that his laugh would have the whole room laughing with his stories. He was a true Toronto Maple Leaf’s fan, where him and his brother would watch and cheer their team on. Game night was sometimes very quiet in the Morris household as not all brothers were Leaf fans. Roger loved to watch any hockey game as he loved the sport.
In his younger years he would enjoy running with his brother Wayne. Roger left Eskasoni and moved to the United States where he worked for many years.
Roger is survived by his partner Anne Doucette of Reserve Mines, brothers Phillip (Sandra), and Wayne Morris of Eskasoni, sisters Priscilla (Jetta) Denny of Eskasoni, Elizabeth Bernard of Waycobah and baby sister Ann Marie Gallagher of Arizona, US. Roger is also survived by many nieces, nephews, grand and great grandnieces and nephews. He is also survived by his beautiful Godchild Laney Johnson of Eskasoni.
Roger is predeceased by his brothers Nelson, Anthony Morris and youngest brother Christopher Gallagher, sisters Terry Lynn Marshall (David), Marion Paul (Eugene) and his godparents.
Visitation will take place starting at 7pm on Wednesday, August 28 at the Gabriel Centre, 50 Gabriel St., Eskasoni.
A Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30am on Thursday at Holy Family Church in Eskasoni with Fr. Antolin Asor officiating. Inurnment to follow in Holy Family Parish Cemetery.
