Morrison S.C., Dennis Christopher

Prospect Bay, NS

March 20, 1961 – September 8, 2024

Dennis Christopher Morrison S.C., age 63, residing in Prospect Bay, NS, passed away on September 8, 2024, at the Halifax Infirmary due to complications of a stroke.

Born in Sydney (Whitney Pier), NS, he was the son of the late Donald Morrison and Kathleen Morrison (Hawco).

He is survived by his wife, Lisa Ferguson, sister Donna (Gord), brothers Ian (Debbie) and Colin (Shawn), nieces Nicole and Kayleigh, nephews Kyle and Connar and grand nephews and grand nieces. He is also survived by his sister-in-law Susan Redding. He was predeceased by his sister, Raylene (Morrison) MacDonald.

Dennis was a Boatswain in the Canadian Navy and loved his time serving on the various ships and sailing the high seas. During his military service he was involved in a Rescue of the HO MING Freight Carrier who had called MAYDAY off the coast of Newfoundland. Dennis risked his life to save crew members who had abandoned the ship, and for this brave act he was awarded the STAR OF COURAGE, the second highest medal awarded for bravery.

Dennis made friends everywhere he went because he had one of those magnetic personalities that drew everyone to him. He had a remarkable ability to make you laugh at all costs.

Dennis worked at the Atlantic Pilotage Authority (APA) as a dispatcher, and here Dennis found a job he truly loved and a role that was a perfect fit after his time in the Navy, as it allowed him to stay connected to the marine world and the unique lingo that comes with the job.

During his days off work, Dennis was involved in the St. John Therapy Dog program with his beloved buddy Storm the Samoyed, where he visited the veterans at Camp Hill, sharing in camaraderie while Storm enjoyed the treats.

He will be greatly missed by all, especially by his sidekick Storm and his other fur babies, Willie, Fancy and little Nugget.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to the staff at EHS and Halifax Infirmary 3IMCU for their exceptional care and unwavering compassion during Dennis's time of need.
