Lower South River, NS
September 21, 1963 - January 15, 2024
Richard Douglas “Dougie” Murray, 60, of Lower South River and formerly of Mulgrave passed away on Monday January 15, 2024 at the Burnside Correctional Facility. Born in Antigonish, he was the son of the late James Douglas and Edna Jeanette (Marshall) Murray.
Dougie was a simple man, who liked the simple things in life. He loved his 3 children very much and adored his wife, Mary. He loved the woods – it was his passion; hunting in his younger years and working more as he got older. As much as he loved hunting, we think he enjoyed telling the stories about it more. You did not want to get him started on a hunting story.
Dougie was a “Jack of all Trades”. There was not a lot that he couldn’t do, from mechanics to carpentry, electrical and plumbing. He was a perfectionist at everything he did, and it showed in his work. Dougie also loved watching a Toronto Maple Leafs came on Saturday nights (or any night they played); sometimes with a lot of screaming at the T.V.
Dougie is survived by his partner of 35 years, Mary Hendsbee; children, Jamie Murray, Dylan (Kelly Layes) Murray and Dalton Murray; sisters, Amy Murray, Veronica Murray and Rosie Meagher.
He was predeceased by his father, James Douglas Murray and mother, Edna (Marshall) Murray; brothers, Jamie and Donnie.
Memorial Donations may be made to Nova Scotia Mental Health, or Charity of one’s choice.
