Parsons, Shawn Douglas

Truro, NS

December 22, 2024

It is with broken hearts that we announce that our beloved Shawn passed away on Sunday, December 22, 2024, in Truro.

Born in Truro, he was the son of Rhonda Parsons (Jessy Rowley), Grand Bank, Newfoundland, and Doug Parsons, Jr. (Amber Jones), Masstown.

Ever since he was child, Shawn’s bright smile and big brown eyes melted everyone’s hearts. He grew up in North River and played hockey with Brookfield Elks. Through his teens, Greg and Carol Jones of North River played a big part of his life for which he was grateful and whom he spoke often of in his later years. At age 19, he moved to Alberta for work and returned to Nova Scotia after the birth of his daughter, Rylee Emily, his pride and joy. An avid outdoors enthusiast, Shawn enjoyed four-wheeling, snowmobiling, biking in Victoria Park and hanging out at the skatepark. He was also involved with Tae Kwon Do.

Shawn was liked by all and he touched many hearts during his life. He was always checking in with family and friends, making sure that they were okay, never concerned with his own well-being. His daughter was the love of his life and she was truly "Daddy’s girl" with a firecracker personality, much like her Dad. His love for his siblings was unconditional and he always found time to torment them!

Along with his parents, Shawn is survived by his daughter, Rylee Emily Shea-Parsons, and her mother, Taylor Shea, Bible Hill; sisters, Stacey Parsons, Sydney Parsons, Truro; niece and nephews, Cassadee, Chance, Jayce, Carter, Lennon; maternal grandmother, Mildred Rideout, Grand Bank, Newfoundland; paternal grandmother, Frances (Don) Hammond, New Glasgow; paternal grandfather, Douglas Parsons, Sr. (Dorothy MacKenzie), Parrsboro; uncles and aunts, Rod (Brenda) Follett, Ashley Follett, St. John’s, Newfoundland; Marlene (Tom) Saunders, Winnipeg, Manitoba; several cousins; best friend since childhood, Ryan Crocker, who Shawn thought of as his big brother. His great aunt, Viola Senior, was very dear to his heart and he will be missed by Linda Taylor, who he called Aunt Linda; she was there when he came into the world and gave him the nickname, Shawny Bubbles.

Shawn was predeceased by his maternal grandfather, Gordon Thomas Follett; Papa, Stan Rideout; very special friend to Shawn, Dale Christian Dohan.

If so desired, donations in Shawn’s memory to Canadian Mental Health Association are welcomed.
