Pellerin, Gerald Joseph

Mira Road, NS

January 5, 1943 - October 2, 2024

Gerald Pellerin, age 81, of Mira Road has passed away peacefully with his family by his side at the Hospice Cape Breton on Wednesday, October 2, 2024.


Born in Sydney on January 5, 1943, Gerald was the son of the late Alyer and Ruby (Horne) Pellerin.


Gerald is survived by his beloved wife of 61 years, Dolores (Campbell) Pellerin; sons, Gerry of Berwick, William (Maria) of Toronto, Michael (Tracy) of Toronto, and Glen of Fredericton; brothers, Donnie, Stewart (Marjorie), and Roy; sister, Betty Campbell; grandchildren, Emma (Jeff) Smulan, Kristen Pellerin, Connor Pellerin, Justin (Ashley) Pellerin, and Charlee Pellerin; great-grandchildren, Nova Powers, Claire Smulin, and a a large extended family and friends.


Along with his parents, Gerald was predeceased by his sister, Alice in infancy and his grandson, Jeffrey.


Gerald was a long-time employee of PPG Canada retiring in 1998 and returning to Cape Breton. Gerald was a Volunteer Firefighter for 17 years with the town of Oakville, ON. He was a member of the Legion for 50 years and spent many hours helping out different causes with the Legion, especially the Poppy Fund which helped him earn the Queens Diamond Jubilee for his dedication to the Legion.


Visitation for the late Gerald Pellerin will be held at the Pier Community Funeral Home, Whitney Pier, 1092 Victoria Rd. (entrance on Church Street) from 5-7 p.m. on Sunday, October 6, 2024. Visitation will continue from 1-2 p.m. on Monday, October 7, 2024, at Immaculate Conception Parish Church in Main-A-Dieu. Memorial Mass will be held in Immaculate Conception Parish Church in Main-A-Dieu at 2 p.m. with Fr. Conrad Edwards officiating.


Interment will be in the parish cemetery, Main-A-Dieu.


A gathering for family and friends will take place following interment in the Coastal Discovery Centre.


The family wishes to thank Dr. Hebb, all the doctors and staff at Cape Breton Regional Hospital 4B and also the staff at Hospice Cape Breton for their care of Gerald in his time of need.

The family requests no flowers.


In lieu of flowers donations in memory of Gerald may be made to the Cancer Society of Canada.
