It is with deep sadness, we announce the passing of Ovidio Rodrigues da Silva on March 8, 2025, in Portugal at the age of 91. His funeral took place on March 13,2025 in Portugal.

He is survived by his wife Rosa; son Armindo (Susan Barrett Silva); daughter Maria (Manuel Almeida); grandchildren Cheyenne, Elizabete (Taylor Dignan) and Cristina; great-granddaughters Daniela and Soraia.

Ovidio immigrated to Canada 1961 with his wife and children in 1961. He was a devoted, understanding husband and father who provided a great foundation for his children's future.

He had many talents and a strong work ethic. He worked on countless masonry/concrete restoration projects such as NS Government House, Saint Mary's Basilica, All Saints Cathedral and many other buildings/structures in HRM and the Maritimes.

Ovidio took great pride in volunteering. He was a member and involved in many projects at Saint Paul's Church in Dartmouth. He helped start the Portuguese Social Club of NS, serving on the board numerous times over the years as well as on the board of the Festival of Our Lady of Fatima.

We would like to express our gratitude to the staff at both the nursing home and the hospital in Portugal.

He will be greatly missed by his family and friends in Canada, France and Portugal. You will always be in our hearts and memories.
