J. W. (Jim) RUSSELL - of Dartmouth, NS. After a prolonged battle with various cancers, I have come to the end of the road.

I was the firstborn to parents Mary and Maurice Russell and was raised in Liverpool, NS. I was soon joined by a sister, Marylin (Peter), then a brother, Richard (Elaine), and finally another sister, Margie (Nigel), creating an incredibly tight sibling group.

We were fortunate to have loving but firm parents. Among other guidelines we learned early you do not demand respect, it must be earned. Also, while others may look different they are equal.

After leaving Mt. A, I spent the next 45 years in the financial field, including Bank Manager, Trust Company Executive, and operating my own Financial Planning operation. I enjoyed working with people and assisting them with their financial goals.

During my journey, I was blessed to have Linda, a wonderful partner for 59 years. Joining us were daughters, Susan (Paul) Russell McGrath and Kathy Russell, both of Dartmouth.

Our grandchildren, Andrew James and Jennifer Mary Russell McGrath were the source of much joy - if I had known they were this great I would have had them first! I was a keen golfer and I enjoyed listening to "good music". I also spent many hours in my workroom as an amateur carpenter.

Linda and I enjoyed travel, ballroom dancing and actively participating as elders in our church. We also enjoyed many family occasions at our summer cottages in Hunts Point.

A church service will be held on February 1, 2025, at 11:00 AM at St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church, 216 School Street, Dartmouth, NS.

I will be cremated and later, with a family gathering, be put to final rest.

If you are so inclined, donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or a charity of your choice.
