The family of the late Lorna Stevens (nee Eisan) is heartbroken to announce her passing on September 6, 2024, at Hospice Halifax. She passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family.
Lorna spent much of her life in service to others.
As an original member of the Rocky Road Housing Cooperative, she gave hundreds of hours of assistance to affordable housing. An Eco-Warrior, she staunchly defended environmental causes in hopes that future generations could enjoy the beauty of nature as she had. She was proud of her 25 years of service at the Diagnostics and Imaging Department of the IWK, and, maintained many of the friendships from her years there.
She was fiercely independent and strong yet also compassionate and caring. She missed her calling as a politician, a topic that shouldn’t be mentioned unless you had a comfortable chair. Lorna could also make us laugh ourselves silly with her stories of her childhood or a recent trip to the grocery store. However, the very most important thing to her, was her family, whom she loved and cared for dearly.
She is survived by her children Wendy Williams (David), Marlene Meers (David) and James Stevens (Julie Coleman) as well as seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild. She is also survived by siblings Mary Pyke, Anne Bona, Jane Hawes (Lloyd), Paul Eisan (Isabel MacDonald) and several nieces, nephews and great-nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her son, Mark, parents Lorne and Mary Eisan, brother James and sisters Helen and Jean.
Special thanks to the caring and professional staff at Hospice Halifax who went above and beyond for her. We feel truly blessed by their support.
A Celebration of Life will be held in her honor on Sunday, September 15 from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at St. Margarets of Scotland Parish Hall, 3751 Robie Street, Halifax.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice Halifax.
