Whitefield, Gulli Anny

Dartmouth, NS April 5, 1935 - December 21, 2024

Beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend, passed away peacefully on December 21, 2024.

Born in København, Danmark on April 5, 1935, Gulli was a daughter of the late Carl and

Eia Petersen (Christensen). Eia, Gulli, and Gulli’s sister, Lis, emigrated from Danmark

to Canada in 1952, six months after her father, Carl, emigrated to Dartmouth, Nova

Scotia.

Gulli met the love of her life, William (“Bill”) Whitefield, an RCN seaman after moving to

Nova Scotia and after a brief courtship, they were married in Dartmouth on March 26,

1955. Being married to a sailor during the Cold War was a busy time and Bill’s job

required moves to various bases across Canada. They moved to British Columbia in

1956 where their two children were born, before moving back to Dartmouth where they

spent the majority of their time together.

Gulli worked at Bank of Nova Scotia at several locations in Halifax-Dartmouth and she

and Bill raised their son Stephen and daughter Sharon during this time. She enjoyed

spending her downtime at the family cottage at Tucker Lake, Beaver Bank, a pastime

that gave her much relaxation and pleasure. She loved her time in the aquatics pool

exercising with “Neptune’s Daughters”. Bill and Gulli were also involved in the

Maritimes Leisure Time Travel Club and they spent many good times attending rallies

both locally and across Canada and the United States.

Gulli is lovingly remembered by her son, Stephen Whitefield, of Beaver Bank, and

daughter Sharon Almon (Kenneth), of Dartmouth; her five grandchildren, Darrell

Amirault (Jennifer), Sarah Almon, Jennifer Almon, Jonathan Whitefield, all of Dartmouth.

and Katelyn Lively (Brandon), of Beaver Bank; and her three great-grandchildren, Cohen Lively, Peyton Lively, and Soren Lively, all of Beaver Bank; and her niece and nephews.

She was predeceased by her husband of 64 years, Bill, and her sister, Lis Petersen-Banfield.

Cremation has already taken place. A celebration of life will be held at a later date.

The family wishes to thank the doctors, nurses, and caregivers at Parkstone Bedford

West - London Hall where Gulli resided for the past twelve months. The kindness,

respect, and compassion shown to her at London Hall was deeply appreciated by the family.

In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation toward research into dementia or a charity of your choice.
