WRIGHT - Darrell ‘WADE’ - The family are heartbroken to announce Wade’s peaceful passing on Friday, September 6, 2024, age 53.
Wade was born February 5, 1971, to Gail (Redden)Wright and the late Darrell Wright.
Wade grew up in Cole Harbour at the time when the community was growing as well. He lived his childhood on Caldwell Road. After living in Halifax for a few years, he moved to Timberlea and has resided there for the last twenty years.
Wade had an idyllic childhood. He spent summers at the family cottage on Shortt’s Lake with his parents, brothers, aunts, uncles and many cousins. He played ball in Brookfield in the summers and in the winter, played hockey in Cole Harbour. He was an organizer of his younger brothers and his many friends. Wade graduated from St. Mary’s University with a Commerce Degree and began his career int he banking industry. He went on to work for the Province of Nova Scotia with Access Nova Scotia and later Vehicle Compliance.
Wade loved sports. He enjoyed playing hockey, baseball, and rugby. In novice hockey, he decided to become a goalie. Wade played goalie for his Cole Harbour Minor Hockey teams, Cole Harbour High School, and Cole Harbour Colts Junior A team. He was a lifelong fan of the Buffalo Sabres and Buffalo Bills.
He is survived by his mother, Gail Wright, brothers Dana and Joel, sisters-in-law Tara and Jill, and nephews, Jonah, Ethan, Quinn, Brandon and Mitchell. He also leaves behind loving aunts, uncles, cousins and many friends.
Wade was predeceased by his father, Darrell Wright, grandparents, Dorothy and Gerald Redden and Inez and Norman Wright.
A Celebration of Life will be held at the Cole Harbour Fire Hall, 1150 Cole Harbour Rd. on Saturday, September 14th at 2:00 pm. There will be a visitation at that time, followed by the service at 2:30 pm. This will be followed by a reception until 4:00 pm. Feel free to drop in at any time.
