Young, Julia Anne

Eskasoni First Nation, NS

July 3, 1969 – July 4, 2024


It is with sadness in our hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend Julia Anne Young who passed away peacefully at her home, surrounded by the love of her family.


Born on July 13, 1969 to the late Benedict Joe and Annie Jane Joe (Cabot). Besides her parents, Julia was also predeceased by her brothers Joey and Benedict, her best friends Claudia, Donna and Juanita. And her second father and uncle Peter ‘piel’ Cabot and grandmother Ellen Cabot


Julia’s sense of humour and her infectious smile will be missed by her dear husband William, her beloved children Juliene, Newell and Ellenie (Johnathan), her adoring grandchildren Aidan, Keaton, Elijah and Cyler as well as her many fur babies. She is also survived by her siblings Miranda, Patrick (Lucy), Dereck (Alice), sister-in-law Claudia, god father Michael Johnson, god mother Mary Tina Young and god children Annie Jane Marshall, Theresa Joe, Brody Joe, Garren Denny, Allysen Francis, Elizabeth Herney and Kylie Cabot and bff Cornelia Ann Francis. She was also known as “Mom” to her childrens bestfriends Samantha, Farrah, Ekkian, Julianna, Keanna, Dakota, Kelsey, Devy, Ashton, Terina Francis and more.


Julia was a happy, smiling, strong woman of faith with a keen sense of humour and quick witted. She enjoyed dancing and making sure her children had a good time. As a women of faith she was an active member of Holy Family Parish and she enjoyed her annual pilgrimage to Chapel Island. Julia enjoyed sports in her younger days, playing softball (as a pitcher with a mean pitch). She was also a devoted Edmonton Oilers fan. Julia also enjoyed playing darts, cribbage, watchugot and Karaoke.


Visitation will take place at the Gabriel Centre, 50 Gabriel St., Eskasoni starting at 7pm on Saturday, July 13. A funeral mass will be held on Monday, July 15 at 10:30am at Holy Family Church, Eskasoni with Fr. Asor presiding.


A salite will take place immediately following in the church hall.


The family would like to thank the VON and palliative care nurses for all of their care and compassion shown to Julia.
