  • Mailman, Maude Emma Grace

Truro, NS January 15, 2024 Maude Emma Grace Mailman – 34, Calgary, formerly of Bible Hill and Truro. It is with heavy hearts that we acknowledge the tragic passing of our beloved Maude Emma on Monday, January 15, 2024. Maude happily grew up and attended school in Bible Hill and Truro. She was involved in many sports and showed such promise at all that she turned her hand to. Maude easily made many friends throughout her life and cherished them all. She and her sister, Ceilidh, were always together, and wherever they went "those tall Mailman girls" turned heads. Her lifelong friend, Alana Weatherbee, was her most trusted and beloved friend; they just "got" each other, and it was beautiful to watch. Maude was surrounded by her lively loving family, (the Langille/Richard/Matthews family of Londonderry and the Moore/Mailman family of Admiral Rock.) She knew she was loved and was so proud of them all; she gladly received love and freely gave it. Right from the start, Maude knew who she was and where she was going. With an independent "I can do it!" spirit and unwavering confidence, Maude struck out for Calgary, where she met her love, Rob. The girl was strong and capable and knew how to work. Most notably she was strong-willed and softhearted.  This, paired with her immense compassion for the underdog, made her a shining light in a dark world.   Her beautiful smile and contagious laugh are what we need more of.  Well done, Maude! She prepares the way for her parents, Larry and Kenley; beloved sister, Ceilidh; nephew, Sandy; grandparents, Edward Langille and Carlotta; many aunts, uncles and cousins. Maude was predeceased by her partner, Rob; infant brother, Sandy; cherished grandmothers, Sandra Langille, Mary Mailman; great grandmother, Eva Langille; many more loved ones, so dear to our hearts . Arrangements have been entrusted to Mattatall – Varner Funeral Home, 55 Young Street, Truro, where Maude’s family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m., Friday, January 19, 2024. Graveside service will be announced at a later date. In lieu of flowers and in honour of Maude, donations can be made to Teen Challenge’s "Atlantic Hope Women’s Centre", St John’s, NL (www.teenchallenge.ca/donate/donation-form) or at the funeral home. Born in Florence on April 15, 1946, Cathy was the daughter of the late Jim and Florence (Pearo) Wallace. To our neighbors and friends in Florence who were so kind and thoughtful over so many years, know your many gestures were always appreciated. Ron devised a system for irrigating his house plants that enabled him to grow and give multiple plants at one time. Ron’s real hobby was designing and building canoes and kayaks. He would build them, and test them out on the water to see if they would float. He diligently drew plans and made models for a special kind of canoe that he was working to perfect. His goal was to create a lightweight model made out of aluminum so that it would be easy to transport. He was an inventor. He would think of ideas in his mind, and then bring them to life. His latest invention was creating a stackable shopping cart using milk creates to avoid the use of shopping bags. In his younger years Ron attended air cadets. He moved out west to British Columbia to attend Pacific Life Bible College. While there, he discovered a love for Krispy Kreme doughnuts. Ron was also a loving father to his two daughters. He embodied selflessness throughout his life; Even praying for his enemies. He loved to dance, and was amazing at doing “the robot”, often showing it off in public. Ron was a good, gentle person who struggled with health problems for several years. Regardless of his health situation well or unwell Ron regarded Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior and never doubted God's goodness. He left the most important thing behind, which was his faith. He taught others that a life well lived was a life knowing God, not a life of material wealth or status. He was a wise man, and very knowledgeable in the bible. He often would get excited when he would discover new things and share his knowledge with others. His favourite show was the 700 club, and He often sent prayer requests to them on behalf of other people. Ron's grandchildren remember him loving animals and being silly. Ron loved spending as much time with his grandchildren as possible because they always, without fail, brought a smile to his face. Time spent with his grandchildren often involved feeding ducks at the pond by his residence. He enjoyed finding treats and toys to send in packages to his grandchildren. He loved his family very much and his dying wish was that everyone would experience God's love. “Because of Christ, death is not final. It is a passage from one world to the next.” ~R.C. Sproul
