She is survived by son, Sheldon (Tammy) Martin, ON; daughter, Anita (Greg), Galloro, ON; daughter by choice, Patrica Fowler; three grandchildren all of Ontario; sister, Marilyn Paul, Calgary; sisters-in-law, Carol Ann MacLean (Paul Sherman), Nictaux; Adrienne Martin, Greenfield; niece, Donna (Mike) Durling, Bridgetown who has been a huge help to Joyce after the passing of her husband Allen just over two months ago, many loving nephews and nieces who she enjoyed spending time with over the years camping. Joyce was predeceased by her brother, Raymond Willcocks; parents, Sybil and James Willcocks; brothers-in-law, Dennis, Melvin and Ernest Martin, David MacLean; sister-in-law, Marge Martin, but most recently her beloved husband of 64 years Allen. Joyce was heartbroken to lose the love of her life. Nothing was ever going to be the same. She moved from the home they loved shortly after his death to Kennedy’s Boarding Home of Seniors so she would be surrounded by others and not alone. Joyce was a very talented lady. There were not too many things she couldn’t do or make. From knitting, crocheting, painting, rug hooking, cross stitch and sewing. She made many wonderful quilts all hand stitched and quilted. She made outfits for herself and Allen when they were square dancing, owned a ceramic shop, where she taught classes and made wonderful things. She also made mitts and donated to the RCMP to hand out to children that didn’t have any on cold days. She was also teaching her sister-in-law, Carol Ann the basics of painting with watercolors and to crochet. Joyce also played the piano. Her one passion was dancing. Years ago it was square dancing and the last years it was jams and dancing to some of their favorite music. Elvis was one of their favorites. Joyce loves to water-ski but at the very young age of 24, she had a water-skiing accident, where she was injured. That ended her water-skiing, but she never gave up. She was the mother of two children whom she decided to be a stay-at-home Mom and look after them. They made many trips to Nova Scotia from Ontario over the years so they would know their grandparents and other family members. They also took many camping trips including the Cabot Trail a few times. She loved her family pets especially her last dog Chelsey and two cats, Snuggles and Lucky. They moved to Port Lorne in 2011 where she loved it. She always said, “of all the places we have lived I love this one the most.” She loved the view and that the salt air kept the bugs away. There will be a gathering in Joyce’s memory to be at a later date in the spring. Arrangements have been entrusted to Middleton Funeral Home, 398 Main Street, toll free 1-855-825-3448.
